A historical book launching was held last October 22, 2015 at the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute Conference Room. The launch happened during the Fish Conservation Week of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources entitled "Pinatatag na Batas ng Pangisdaan, Hakbang sa Pagkamit ng mas Masaganang Karagatan". The event was said to be "historial" because it was the first time of the Institution to launch an identification guide to Sharks, Batoids and Chimaeras of the Philippines. Aside from the identification guide, two more books were also launched entitled: Marine Mammals and Sharks and Rays.
Proud authors, Dr. Mudjekeewis D. Santos and Ms. Moonyeen Nida R. Alava talked about their experiences before the successful release of their books. Ms. Moonyeen also discussed the contents of the Identification Guide book. Unfortunately, another author, Ms. AA Yaptingchay wasn"t able to do the launch, but Ms. Emily Capuli, co-author of "Pating Ka Ba?" attended the event. Mr. Berthold Schirm, Principal Adviser of the Protected Area Management Enhancement Project, GIZ Philippines gave some messages on the GIZ involvement on the production of Field Guide and Rescue Manuals. The Ceremonial Turnover of the Field Guide to National Fisheries Research and Development Institute was spearheaded by Dr. Mudjekeewis D. Santos and Ms. Moonyeen Nida R. Alava. |
