Last year the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) held its 25th National Research symposium at Quezon City last October 16, 2013. The competition is open to all Filipinos who are currently doing research on fisheries and agriculture for the past five years. The focus of DA-BAR NRS is to award researchers whose works have resulted to new technologies that can be beneficial to both fisheries and agricultural industries in the Philippines. Since the year 1989, DA-BAR hosted an annual conference to enhance information and knowledge exchange among key players in the fisheries and agriculture research and development sector.
Participants of the said competition choose their category where they think their research belonged. The NFRDI-GFL had three entries qualifying for the preliminaries of the said competition. Santos Title: Using Comparative Phylogeography of Philippine Sardines to Improved the Management of a Mixed-Species Fishery Author Rey Thomas, Jr., Demian Willete and Mudjekeewis D. Santos
