GFL member Benedict left for Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Shinagawa Campus to pursue his PhD in Applied Marine Biosciences. He was one of the lucky applicants to be accepted as a MEXT (Japanese Government) Scholar to pursue graduate studies in Japan for 3 years. He arrived at the Genome Science Laboratory on Oct 3, 2012 where he met his professor and advisers, Dr. Hidehiro Kondo and Dr. Ikuo Hirono, former teacher and adviser of our dear Doc Mudjie Santos. He will be studying more in shrimp immunity mechanisms that will be of future application in Philippine shrimp farming.
Best of luck for our colleague as he embarks on another chapter of his learning career. Gambatte Kudasai Bidek-san!
